Chef Week!

This week was certainly eventful. My work had several events planned for the week including an evening reception in which Wolfgang Puck and Martin Yan made appearances, did cooking demos and signed autographs. It was very cool. I got an autographed cookbook from both of them.
The next day, Chef Martin Yan made an appearance at my account. He did knife demos and signed cookbooks for my customers. It was all very fun and exciting. I really enjoyed the opportunity to get to meet these two chefs and to get to showcase one at my account.
I am headed out to Detroit tomorrow for my annual CFE Summit. I will be there most of the week, flying back on Thursday evening. I had to change my flight to connect in Memphis rather than Houston due to Ike. I'm glad I got it changed because Houston really took a beating this weekend. We didn't even get a drop of rain in Austin!

I hope everyone has a great week! Peace and Love!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Today is my first 29th birthday. I purchased the 5 year anti-aging plan from AARP, so I won't turn 30 until 2013, that works for me! So for my first 29th birthday, we celebrated all weekend long! First we went to dinner with our friends Chris and Audra.

Then we went to Dave and Busters and shot a bunch of stuff!

We were winners too! I hit the jackpot on two games and Scott hit a mega jackpot too. We are kicking ourselves for not playing the lotto that night!!!

We cashed in and came home with all sorts of amazing prizes like the Dr. Fart noise machine, Audra is so proud of, and my Birthday Care Bear, and Joshua has two monkeys and assorted remote control toys. It was a great time!

Of course a birthday would not be complete without a birthday rocket. That's right, Scott and Joshua decided that a rocket would be a great gift for me...hmmm... Well we went and shot the rocket on Sunday and it turned out to be a lot of fun. Joshua got to shoot it and chase it and we all enjoyed the evening.

I had a great birthday and lots of fun!!

Can't wait to turn 29 again next year!!!

Our Labor Day Weekend

This Sunday was an "All Girls Day" to go float the Comal River in New Braunsfels with Somer and several of our friends. We had a wonderful, relaxing time. Sitting in a tube and floating down a river of cool rushing water is so peaceful and fun. We started out as a group of six, but we dwindled down to four as some of our friends had to leave early. We made four trips down the river, having more fun each round. The river has a few chutes/waterfalls that you encounter along the way and this adds to the fun. Of course you always get a good laugh at the poor soul that gets dumped from their tube and it is always an adventure trying to get your group of tube people back together again before you hit another chute! I needed a stress free day and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Scott had Joshua for the day and he took him over to our friends house that have the twin baby girls. The babies are six months old and it was their Daddy's first time to really babysit on his own for longer than 30 minutes (Mom was with us on the river). Joshua later told me, "Mom, you don't want to babysit, all the babies do is hold their heads back and go WAAAAAAAAA!" I laughed so hard when he was describing this to me. Apparently the babies did not like their mommy having a day off!

I went into work on Monday, even though I was "off", to get a jump start on the week as I will be short handed this week. Scott and Joshua came up to keep me company and of course before you knew it I had put them to work. I had to bag up cookies, brownies etc. We had a little assembly line going and we knocked it out quickly. I bagged, Scott sealed and Joshua put on the stickers. Thank goodness they came or I would have been there forever! On the way home Joshua said, "That was really fun!" I think he just liked all the snacking!!

All in all we had a great Labor Day weekend!
