First Day of First Grade!

Joshua was ready to go! He had his brand new Iron Man lunchbox and his old Dallas Cowboys backpack (that he didn't want replaced). He wore his brand new shoes from Granma and some new school clothes we bought this weekend.
He had a great first day. Looks like Shiva would have liked to have shared his lunch!

The Backyard Outlaws

Few outlaws rival the tyrannical acts of the infamous Backyard Outlaws! We have captured rare photographs of the gang in it's territory, the backyard. One must tread carefully to avoid capture by these ruthless outlaws. They would surely torture anyone who dares to trespass!

Here are the members:

Tank a.k.a. SBD (Silent But Deadly)

Don't let his innocent looks fool you, he has been known to

gas his victims with stealth like silence and accuracy. It's

been said that your nose will never be the same again after

an attack from SBD!

Bella a.k.a. Bullet Tongue

Fastest tongue this side of the Mississippi. Her tongue is so fast it's a blur.

She has been know to lick ten men at once

before they even knew what hit them! BEWARE, she aims for

the mouth!

Shiva a.k.a. The Muscle

60 lbs of muscle to be exact. She is the most

protective of the Backyard Gang's territory and

will warn anyone who even thinks about entering

with a bark so loud it makes your brain rattle!

And the leader of the Backyard Outlaws...

Joshua a.k.a. Quick Draw Skywalker

Not only is he a quick draw with the pistols, he possesses the

skill of a Jedi Knight with a lightsaber.

THIS JUST IN!!! A MEMBER OF THE GANG HAS BEEN CAPTURED

AND IS BEGGING FOR MERCY!!!

It's the dreaded SBD! Oh, no! What is that smell......

This Weeks News

This week we found out that Scott has Type 2 Diabetes. It can be controlled with diet and exercise, but the doctor also put him on Glucophage because his blood sugar is running so high. He is working on lowering his blood sugar and being more aware of the foods he chooses. I'm working on letting him handle it and only providing support when needed. It is very difficult because I really want to just jump in there and plan out all of his meals and snacks and everything to make sure he stays on track. But I know he is a grown man and can take care of himself, I just have to suppress that control freak instinct of mine!

We also found out that his Achilles tendon is partially ruptured. So he has to wear a support boot for up to six weeks! He has a great deal of pain with it and has to ice it regularly. He is taking next week off work so that he can stay off of his feet. The doctor wanted him to take six weeks off, but Scott said no, he would just be on restricted duty. Poor Scott had a rough week!


Joshua is doing very well. He starts school on Tuesday. We took his school supplies up to school on Friday and visited with his new teacher Mrs. Lowe. She seems very sweet and bubbly, I'm sure he will enjoy her class.


I got new glasses and Joshua is modeling them for me. I have a very hectic month with work in September and the first week of October. I will be traveling to Detroit and the Fort Worth area. I will keep you all posted on how it goes.

Way Better Than Pizza Hut!!!

Who needs delivery when you have Chef Joshua on the job?

Joshua makes custom pizzas with your favorites in mind. Here he is preparing his classic Pepperoni and Hamburger Pizza with extra cheese. A tasty favorite that everyone loves!!!

Here the Chef is beaming with pride as his creation has come out of the oven perfect as usual!

It's always good to follow up one of Chef Joshua's pizza's with a strenuous game of tug o war. This is sure to burn off those extra calories!! One dog will do, but two is much better!!!

The Latest...

Well, I have not written in a while because not much has been going on. Here is what I have for you...

• Last weekend Somer came for a visit and we redecorated my living room. Nothing major, but I love the change! We also went and swam laps together which was great. I wish I had a swimming partner to motivate me more.

• This week I went to Houston on Tuesday morning and came back Wednesday afternoon. I went for a "Personal Development" training course. I don't really enjoy these kinds of classes, but it was a good opportunity for networking. Besides, it's always nice to have a hotel room all to myself. I can stretch out on the bed and watch whatever I want on tv and take a long shower without anyone trying to ask me a question through the bathroom door! I even ordered room service for breakfast and had breakfast in bed! I felt like royalty.


• Joshua has one week before school starts. Today his daycare had an end of summer party. They had a slip n slide, foam party and tug o war with mud. They fed them hot dogs and punch for lunch and gave them all bubble gum. That's a pretty sweet day for a six year old! When I picked him up today he was so excited to tell me all about his day. I asked him if he played in the foam and he said, "No way!!! The line was HUGE!!" His eyes are so expressive I could almost see how long that line was!


• Joshua has had a great summer with four weeks in Colorado and all kinds of field trips with day care. He is ready to start first grade and is already acting like a "big kid". I'm very proud of him.


• Scott is doing well. He is currently napping before he goes to work at the tattoo shop for the night. He came to visit me for lunch today and surprised me.

Warm Fuzzy Blankets

On Sunday, Scott and I went to the mall. We wondered into Brookstone to look at the gadgets and I ended up finding the softest blanket I have ever felt. I'm not kidding, it is seriously soft and luxurious. Half jokingly I told Scott he should buy it for me for our anniversary. He rolled his eyes because it was a bit pricey for a blanket and I'm sure he was thinking how spoiled I am, but he just said, "Okay, get it."


Later that day I decided to lay on my bed with my ultra soft blanket and Joshua (who loves wrapping up in blankets) came into my room. He noticed my cotton candy pink blanket and felt how soft it was. He immediately wanted me to share it! After a brief tug-o-war I told him no way, it was mine because I got it for our anniversary. Joshua asked, "Well, what do I get for our anniversary? A blue blanket?" I laughed and told him that maybe he could get one for his birthday if he really wanted one.


I told Scott about Joshua wanting my blanket and how sweet I thought it was that Joshua considers the anniversary to be Our Anniversary, which it really is.


Our anniversary was actually this Monday the 4th. Since we celebrated early, we did not have any plans for the actual day. I went to a friend's women's group and left the guys to hang out. As I was leaving they were making plans for pizza and video games.


I came home a little after 11 because the women's group ran late. The table was scattered with little plastic army men, toy snakes and squishy balls, prizes from the pizza place. I smiled thinking that they must have had a great time. Then I went into Joshua's room to turn on his night light and to check on him. I heard Scott call to me from across the hall and he said, "Feel his blanket." Sure enough, Joshua was covered up with a navy blue Brookstone blanket. Scott took him to the mall and bought him his very own super soft blanket as an anniversary gift.

I was touched by how sweet and thoughtful my husband is. I feel so blessed to have such a loving husband and that Joshua has such a kind hearted father.
